Most consumer camcorders come with built in effects or titling.
Effects allow you to change the image in different ways after it has been recorded, before it is written to the tape. For example, a common effect is black and white, which lets you record the video in black and white. Other effects that you might see are invert, mirror, and emboss.
Titling allows you to add text to the video. For example, a you could add something like “Happy Birthday” if you were recording a birthday party.
Built in titling and effects are always more limited than effects provided by all but the most basic NLE. It is recommended that when possible, you record your video without effects or titling and add them later with a computer. This gives you more options and it lets you keep the unedited version of the video.
